Want to really thrill your guests with a taste of Thunders Enchanted Black Forest Gâteau?. Chill for 10 minutes, until set, then arrange on top of the cake.Description Thunders ‘Enchanted’ Black Forest Gâteau Drizzle the white chocolate cherries with the dark chocolate and the dark chocolate cherries with white chocolate. Pour the remaining melted white and dark chocolate into separate paper piping bags and snip off the ends. Place on the lined baking sheet and chill for 5 minutes, until set. Dip half the cherries in white chocolate and half in dark. To decorate, melt the white and dark chocolates separately in small heatproof bowls set over small pans of barely simmering water. Pipe rosettes of cream around the top edge. Spread a little on top of the cake to cover and spoon the remainder into the piping bag with the star nozzle. Carefully, holding the top and bottom of the cake, lift it and roll the sides in the grated chocolate until coated. Place the finely grated chocolate on a dinner plate. Using a palette knife, spread the remaining whipped cream around the sides, but not the top of the cake. Place the second soured-cream sponge on top and repeat, finishing with the last whisked sponge (use the most attractive, flattest cake for the top). Place 1 soured-cream sponge on a plate, spread with jam and a little cream, then top with a whisked sponge and repeat the jam and cream. Whip 550ml of the cream with the icing sugar to soft peaks. Brush 1tbsp of the syrup over the top of each cake. Boil for about 5 minutes, or until the syrup is reduced to about 4tbsp. Pour the juice into a small pan and bring to the boil. Drain the cherries (reserving the juice), chop them a little and stir into the jam. Heat the jam in a small pan until melted. Leave to cool for 5 minutes, then turn out onto a wire rack to cool completely. Bake for 20-25 minutes, until springy to the touch. Gently pour the cooled melted butter down the inside of the bowl and carefully fold in.ĭivide the mixture equally between the lined tins. Using a large metal spoon, gently fold this into the egg mixture, taking care not to knock out the air. In a separate bowl, sift together the flour and cocoa powder. Meanwhile, melt the butter in a pan over a low heat, then remove from the heat and leave to cool. Whisk the eggs and sugar in a stand mixer fitted with the whisk, on high speed for about 10 minutes, until thick and mousse-like and the mixture leaves a ribbon trail when you lift the whisk. Leave to cool in the tins for 10 minutes, then turn out onto a wire rack to cool completely. Bake for 40-45 minutes until risen, firm to the touch and a skewer inserted into the centres comes out clean. Divide the mixture equally between the lined cake tins and level with a palette knife. Pour the wet ingredients into the dry, and whisk again until smooth. Gradually pour in the egg and soured-cream mixture, whisking until smooth. Using the same hand whisk, mix the sunflower oil into the cooled butter, then whisk in 300ml water to form an emulsion. Using an electric hand whisk, whisk the eggs, soured cream and vanilla in another bowl until fluffy. Meanwhile, mix together the flour, both types of sugar, and the cocoa powder, baking powder, bicarbonate of soda and salt in a large mixing bowl until combined. Melt the butter in a pan over a low heat, then remove from the heat and leave to cool. This is a recipe taken from The Great British Bake Off: Love to Bake.

Danglars resigns and enters a Spanish Merchant group and isn't heard from again. Villefort marries Mademoiselle de Saint-Meran, who's father stood at a higher position than he ever had. Villefort is granted the job of public prosecutor by Louis XVIII. Morrel stops visiting Villefort and Dantes is still imprisoned. Napoleon falls from power again and Louis XVIII becomes king again. It sounds as if he is still in contact with his father and could be a double agent. Villefort begins to realize that he needs to strategically marry. Villefort postpones his wedding until happier times. Louis XVIII is no longer king, and Napoleon rises back up to power. King Louis XVIII rewards Villefort's loyalty with giving him the Cross of St. Louis XVIII meets with Villefort and Villefort warns Louis of the uprising in the South. Then since Dantes is so rebellious, the jailer puts him in the dungeon. He doesn't know if he has slept or not, if he is hungry, and he wants to see the governor. Dantes doesn't move, eat, or drink all night. He is going to be imprisoned at the Château d'If. One of the men transporting Dantes threatens him saying he'll put a bullet in his head if he makes another move. Villefort is worried that the King will find out that his father, Noirtier, is a conspiracist.ĭantes is taken to prison and it sees that Villefort couldn't keep his promise. I believe the letter that Dantes was supposed to deliver had something to do with radicalism and Villefort's father, so Villefort tore it up. The woman's mother is the Marquise (add the e). Mademoiselle's father the Marquis of Saint-Meran says that a son shouldn't be punished for his father's sins. De Villefort is the life of the party but his father was a radicalism during the French Revolution. Monsieur de Villefort is being married to Mademoiselle de Saint-Méran. Edmond's father begs for his release but the commissary says it could be a mistake and if so they will release him as soon as possible.Īnother betrothal feast is occurring at the same time but it is for wealthy people. The betrothal feast is supposed to occur but is interrupted because Edmond is arrested. The three men act as if they are happy for Dantes but it is quite obvious as the reader that the only thing they are interested in is screwing him over. How convenient that that is what the other men want to do as well. Fernand wants to know how to get rid of Edmond. This doesn't look good for Edmond because they all seem to be lined up against him. Fernand is friends with Danglars and Caderousse. Oddly, he seems to be the cousin of Mercedes. Someone else named Fernand loves Mercedes and she denies him. Danglars and Caderousse are friends and clearly now something that Edmond does not. There is a particular type of distaste between Dantes and Danglars.Ĭaderousse is Edmond Dantes's father's neighbor who bent on telling Dantes that he screwed up and should have gone to eat with Monsieur Morrel. The old captain, Captain Leclere dies of brain fever on the voyage. Edmond Dantes, the old first mate, becomes the new captain of the Pharaon after the ship owner, Monsieur Morrel grants him the honor. The Pharaon has landed in Marseille, France on February 24, 1815. (Benedetto childhood and VIllefort burying him is the big one!!) and Some of the stories are a little off because I didn't know what was going on at the time. It is also brimming with pixellated beauty, with multilayered parallax scrolling showcasing evocative environments in the distance. Highly recommended.Ī challenging sidescrolling Metroidvania with religious motifs, taking place in the dark fantasy of Cvstodia, a world full of monsters, gore, suffering and pointy objects. I know why the main character appears a lot in other indie games. Other than what I listed here, this game is really a masterpiece metroidvania game. It would be nice to get them without the need of replaying the entire game again. Several bosses, rosary beads, one heart, one prayer, and a map area are locked behind New Game +. If you pretty much run in a straight line on the map from the beginning, you are screwing yourself over. The game does little to point you in the right direction. If you are a first time player and do not use any guide, you will most likely fight an early boss that makes it impossible to get the true ending. These sections were by far the most unenjoyable things in this game. Things like jumping to a ladder and falling through it, your sword going through a lantern when trying to bounce off it, falling through platforms into spikes, etc. The game has fairly decent platforming, but the challenges really make you wish the mechanics were better. Some things would be impossible or require a large amount of time searching every space on the map for some secrets. It would be fun to do a New Game + and toy around with different combinations more. The various things to collect are fun and actually helpful. The lore itself was really well done if not a bit confusing at times. I really enjoyed the character art and the backgrounds/environments. I think this game's aesthetics are it's strongest virtue, with all other elements in support of it. I would love to see this same art style in more games, whether or it be in a sequel to this game or otherwise. The style really pulled me in, and the gameplay was good enough to keep me from checking out. I was sort of expecting to not like it for some reason. That sort of experience doesn't happen here. Everyone has stories about being lost deep in Blight town and spending a lump of time working their way back to daylight. The way the original Dark Souls interconnected it's world still hasn't been beat in my opinion. It suffers from the same problem Salt & Sanctuary does-you rarely need the shortcuts. On another note, the levels weave and interconnect to each other through shortcuts. I thought I had played enough of these types of games to not be surprised anymore but there were some pretty novel ideas here. The levels have great design and aesthetic variety. I also did experience some bugs, mostly in what seemed like bosses animation desyncing from their behavior. Some caveats: the system for avoiding damage is slightly under baked and there's some iffy hitboxes here and there. The combat is a little sticky, not very fluid, but it's mechanics are interesting enough and the enemy variety lets it shine relatively bright. But I enjoyed the platforming most of the time. I myself was not a fan of the liberal use of deadly spikes. The platforming has some gimmicks that could prove frustrating for some weird ledge grab mechanics and instant death falls. For specifics, it leans a bit harder on the platforming and non-boss combat than most Souls games. On the gameplay side of things, it's a mix of exploration, platforming, and combat. Maybe that's unfair to this game, but I always see lore as a side event in these types of games anyway. It might be that I'm more unwilling to sift through the lore of a Souls-like when I've already gone through From's stuff, which has much more clout. This stuff is usually passingly interesting to me, but I didn't jive with the lore in this one, I stopped reading the item descriptions as the writing was *really* overly flowery, much more than From Software's stuff. All in all I really enjoyed this experience with only a few complaints here or there.Īs it is a Souls-like, there's the obligatory convoluted storytelling in the form of copious amounts of lore. The combat is based around a single move set, and the RPG elements are sparse. The game is more Metroidvania than Souls, but both inspirations are present. Everything from the bosses to the environment is crisp and beautifully horrible. It's the type of gothic horror that really works for me. The first thing you notice is the art style, it's brutal. Part Souls, part Metroidvania, full catholic horror. OTHER COUNTRIES PLEASE CONTACT ME FOR SHIPPING PRICE On Aug-31-10 at 00:54:15 PDT. So, here we go! Hopefully this thread serves as motivation to keep me on track. This is the aesthetic I'm after, in some fashion (picture stolen from google): Basically I want a tough vintage style bike with some modern parts and 'fun' riding characteristics to blast around on. There is a brewery (Bauhaus Brew labs for those interested) about 15 miles from my house that hosts a very fun motorcycle night the first Thursday of each month, and the goal will be to take this bike there and hit some dirt trails along the way. I'm tempted to get a 3-speed internal hub because I want to be able to ride this bike 10-15 miles pretty easily. At the moment I'm thinking about building a set of Sturmy Archer drum brake hubs to some aluminum rims, some nice knobby tires and bmx-style bars. So in keeping with GRM Fashion I am starting this build thread before even having the project in my hands. Should be great for blasting off curbs and through the dirt. I'm excited about the Heavy Duti in particular because it's an extra-beefy version of the classic Schwinn Middle-weight cantilever frame. Interestingly, one of the guys involved in this was Gary Fisher - which is actually the brand of my daily commuter/mountain bike. For those unfamiliar, Klunkers were converted cruisers with knobby tires that pioneered mountain biking back in the mid 70's. This will be the basis for a Klunker style build. This particular thread is going to be for a bike I do not have yet, pictured in the Facebook Marketplace ad below:ġ980 Schwinn Heavy Duti. This summer I've commuted to work 20 miles round trip a few times a week and gone out for plenty of beer/exploration missions on the bike as well. I've always enjoyed bicycles and without a project car I've found myself gravitating back to them which has been a welcome change. Bicycles were my first passion, I've been riding BMX since I was 10, worked in a bike shop for a decade, etc. So, in the meantime I've been riding and building bicycles a lot more. Anyways, after the 97' Civic I've been trying to take a 1 year hiatus from project cars (June 10th 2020, not that I'm counting). This will be my first thread in the 2 wheel forum - I'm usually creating long drawn out threads about refreshing boring cars. |
